What is Running Start? Running Start is a program in which juniors and seniors who qualify may enroll in college level courses at Bellevue College, CWU Sammamish, or Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LW Tech) and earn high school and college credit concurrently.

Please try again later. CWU welcomes eligible high school juniors and seniors to participate in the Running Start program at Ellensburg, Sammamish, and online. Students enrolled in the Running Start program are able to take college courses tuition-free during the fall, winter, and spring quarters.
Running Start students and students with other dual enrollment credits should apply to the UW with the freshman admission application. Running Start, UW in the High School or other dual enrollment classes should be entered in the high school coursework section (9th – 11th Grade Coursework and/or 12th Grade Coursework, as applicable).
Fill out the forms to get started with Running Start at Bellevue College. Offices and Housing remain open; most classes are moving online. Students should check their BC email and CANVAS for class-specific instructions. We want our students, staff, and faculty to remain healthy. More info about COVID-19 resources.
CWU Running Start students work towards completion of general education requirements. Those credits transfer in exactly the same way as an AA or AS degree does, and can sometimes transfer more easily to out-of-state institutions 2022-2023 Information Coming Soon!
