What is RCIA?

The classes are usually two hours long and cover the basics of the Catholic Faith. You still need to keep learning about the faith after the classes because there is so much to learn. It’s like an onion with many layers. All you have to do to get started is go to the nearest Catholic Church and ask about the RCIA classes.

RCIA classes are free. There may be some required reading - usually a Bible and a Catechism. Some programs hand them out, but usually you’re required to purchase them yourself. Most programs start in September and end with the rites of initiation at the Easter Vigil.

In a typical parish RCIA setting, we are given very little time to catechize in proportion to the beautiful depth of each truth of the faith.
